If painting outdoors feels overwhelming, this workshop will give you the clarity and control you need to paint with confidence and produce stronger, more satisfying work.

Join award-winning plein air oil painter, Scott Ruthven in beautiful Redstone, Colorado for his exciting 3-day plein air painting workshop!

This immersive workshop combines focused daily discussions about the core principles of
scene selection, composition, value, color, and strategy, with live demonstrations and
individualized guidance while painting on location. Students receive personal coaching, insight into Scott’s refined plein air setup, and optional, thoughtful critiques. Painting takes place outdoors at a selection of carefully chosen locations.

Skill Level: Intermediate. Participants should be comfortable with their chosen medium; prior plein air experience is helpful but not required. For returning students, this workshop provides an opportunity to deepen and expand upon earlier learning.
Medium: Oil, gouache, acrylic. Instruction will be in oil and possibly gouache. Concepts apply across mediums.

To provide a highly focused learning experience, enrollment is limited to just 10 artists. Early registration is recommended to secure your place in this exclusive workshop.
